Looking at the base, I don't think you can tilt it back but getting an upholsterer to modify the foam might be the best route.

I have thought about this and am wondering how exactly it would be done and whether it would compromise the seats structural rigidity in a crash (the rigidity of the bracket that holds the seat)

I find that the footrest in the auto is too steeply angled and too close to the seat as well. Perhaps tilting the seat back by adding spacers to the front seat rail pins would do the trick?

Would be very interested in purchasing one. I am using a wedge-shaped seat cushion and a homemedics heated/vibrating lumbar support cushion in my Forester 2.5x.

Car is good in a lot of ways, but these seats are killers. Every other car I've driven as a loaner or rental in this price range (Focus, Corolla, RAV4, 2010 Legacy) has much better seats.

nice, I'm interested to see how yours turns out. I'm waiting to use my sisters sewing machine to finish mine. I tried hand sewing the vinyl but i cant get it tight enough with my hands.
